Default Received employment authorization

My employment authorization came through today; I filed the AOS/petition back in February.

I was surprised to find the work authorization expires in a year rather than a few months.

Not that I need it yet anyway as I'm on an L1 visa.

It normally is for a year, though it can be for longer, not that they do that as it's a god money earner for them *lol*

And congrats on getting it

Congratulations! Oddly, mine came through yesterday too!

...and I don't need mine either, since I'm on an H1-B... but it's still nice to have in my hands

Congratulations to both of you who got your EADs - even though apparently you do not need them

Next time you have $$$ to burn let me know and I'll let you know of an appropriate charitable cause

I guess they think you should finish the AOS within a year; and if they're slow on their end, you get to apply (and pay) to extend the EAD.

Toon got his green card today -- 2.5 weeks from "landing." And he got his driver's licence this morning so now all that is left (for now) is the SSN.

What have you done to him? He's been very quiet since arriving stateside....you're obviously keeping him very busy.

Glad to hear your good news. Best of Luck Toon.

I wish I had $$$ to burn - for me the EAD is simply an automatic part of the progression from non-immigrant visa to GC. We filed our I-485s with my I-140, and received our AP documents and EADs in due course. Now we just have to wait for the I-485s to be approved.

Certainly all of this costs $$$, but I'm glad to say that it's my wonderfully supportive company that covers all that. My job is just to get enormously stressed about the whole thing, and storm around the place demanding that things be done to make the immigration application go quicker!

I will need mine in November when my visa expires; I filed it all at the same time because it makes it easier.

Now, about paying you money....
