Reality is sinking in that I'm now a "proper" US resident
Had to undertake a quick trip to the UK to sign the necessary paperwork to sell my abode over there. It was a little weird, I think it's the first time I arrived in the UK and it didn't feel like I arrived home.
As of last Thursday I officially don't own a house in the UK any more and the one remaining classic car I still had in the is most likely sold to a good friend, too. Feels a little weird, that.

Oh well...shame about the car, but congrats on flogging the gaff, even if it does feel weird

The good news about the car is that if my friend buys it, I get more or less enough money out of it to buy the same model over here .

I just saw a very shiny, old Landy a couple days ago, which was quite fun

A low mileage 1988 Porsche 911 Targa. Fortunately 911s of that vintage are not that hard to find out here.

OMG!!! Don't tell my OH, he's always wanted a 911 and it might feel weird, but we make choices in this world, and I'm sure that it's all going to work out just fine for you

Had a teacher back in highschool that had one, well he bought a slightly banged up with with oddles of miles and had a knackered engine for cheap because he had a friend who owned a scrap yard who had a insurance right off in the yard that had a low mileage engine in good shape, so he swapped the engine out and was in business for relative peanuts.
Those early ones were lovely though weren't they, compared to the modern hairdressers versions they do now.

Yes, finding a good one is a problem - same as in the UK, in a sense. At least the ones out here seem to have fewer rust issues, but from hanging out on the forums for these, I'm beginning to get the impression that even a lot of the supposed specialists for them are, shall we say, not necessarily as qualified as they think they are.

They're a classic Merc specialist mind, but they have the odd one in as well as the odd Ferrari...they've got a lovely AC Cobra up front too which is quite lovely

We left our beloved UK car with our daughter who lives there. We actually gave it to her & signed it over. I've not been back yet, but the husband went last spring over to England and "visited" the car. He said it felt very peculiar to see "his" car parked in another city with new dings in it here & there, and with someone else's stuff inside. He couldn't get over the feeling.

I sold my car to my cousin. 2 weeks after I moved out, the gearbox went bang. Oops.

Hey there. I am a wanker that boasts about their expensive car that they had to sell in the UK and I grumble about my first world problems. Did you want to hear about it? Yeah, I thought not.
