I am not aware of many other places in the USA that are unstable - otherwise how would anything get done, homes built, etc..?
Then there's a few active volcanoes in Hawaii, and NE USA, Old Faithful over due to blow up Wyoming etc, then the natural disasters, hurricanes etc in the south and SW coast. To name some off of the top of my head.

Of course I am aware of the above but I wouldn't describe them as geological.
I am not aware of any geological disasters on continental USA where almost everyone lives (Katrina doesn't count of course).

No, its the fault of those who built and continued to build a society in an earthquake zone, especially when there was (and still is) tons of space elsewhere.

It was a good one, even if unintentional

The fact is most states are at risk of major earthquakes, with 39 of the 50 states in moderate to high risk areas for seismic activity

We have volcanoes too. So that's WA, OR, CA right off the edge there. Plus HI & WY & the Northeast like you said (where in NE?). I'd write off MT too, and CO because you really can't trust those Rockies. Florida might sink, but I don't know if that counts in Volt's interpretation.

Google has a pretty good demographics layer over their maps for quick browsing.

By the sound of things, you're ruling out the entire East and West coast based on either weather and cost.

Wouldn't that city-data site that people recommend help you? Though you would have to do your own comparisons, I guess.
It rains more in Boston on average than it does in the UK though.

I'm sure that it does in CT, too -- but it comes in quick downpours, not day after day of drizzle!

I felt an earthquake in Western NY once. (Not big, but enough to wake me up at 4 in the morning, and it was several hundred miles away from me.) And I've recently heard there's a nuclear plant on the Hudson river that is the most at-risk US plant for seismic damage.

Ooops I meant NW not NE . I'm not sure what Volt would class as a geologically unstable if he discounts earthquakes and volcanoes

...It should be adding you're also ruling out almost the entire mid-west due to weather....... is there anywhere left? :P
