One can sense so much about an individual on here, myself included.

It has not escaped me, and many other's, how cruel and down right brutal this Patrick fellow can be.

I wonder how long he can survive in the work force, with this attitude. Maybe though, he saves it all for his fellow men in this forum.

Granted, some things he says are comical, most are brutal though. I expect to get hung, drawn, and quarterd by him for even daring to question his attitude. So be it.

Patrick, you need to get over what ever is eating away at you; and add something positive to this forum other than barbed remarks to people that do not deserve them.

Several of us have met Patrick in person. Not that he needs anyone to defend on his behalf, but for your information Patrick is a great guy, friendly warm and a genuine nice person.

Sadly some people see his shoot from the hip style intimidating. For those of us that have been on this forum a while, and are qualified to comment on his contribution, he has given an enormous amount of information to those looking for help in the visa lounge. Like a few, now he is here in the USA, he has moved over to this forum, one that does have controversial subjects and prompts controversial replies.

Sadly some people cannot accept someone who expresses their view in a blunt and direct way, some are offended, tough shit I say, I enjoy his contribution and company here, so if you don’t like it, don’t read it.

We all have our pet peeves on this board, I cannot talk for Patrick because I haven't run across him really per se.

But a couple of things that really get my back up are these,

"Well if you don't like it here go home" I ****ing hate that with a passion. No-one has really ever said it to me, but sometimes, you know the insinuation is there.

also

"Hi, my name is Bob, me, the wife and my 5 kids want to move to America, I am a joiner, and is this classed as a specialist skill? we went to Orlando on holiday and we loved it there......"
whatever............

I find that most people on this board do not suffer fools lightly, we all have different views, opinions, and ways to reply. Most of them will be straight forward and honest, most of the time the reply you receive will be the one you don't wanna hear.
That's not brutal as such. It is better that way.

However I haven't had any runins with Patrick so will neither condemn nor defend your post.

Ray.

Too bad, your experiences have been leass than you would have hoped for with your realtors. You're right, many give most a bad name. I do not work in the resale market for that very reason.

Back to the topic in hand; getting one's point across can be done honestly without cruelty. Seems like the men here, are birds of a feather though. Resorting to name calling, swearing, makes the issue secondary to the questionable intellect of the writer.

I have had no bad experience with any Realtors..other than a few pals who are Realtors..who, when I take them out to lunch charge me 7% for the privilege....
Of course you have to realise that sometimes his comment are aimed at other long standing member who take it as part of his banter and certainly take no offence..but to a new person would sound very alarming.. unlike Robclews, I have never met Patrick, I have seen his photo and did think what an ugly bastard until my wife said he looked like a younger version of me...So I looked again and sure enough he is a handsome fellow...Anyway don't take it all so seriously this is the internet Not real life..

I have nothing to say... patrick at the very least is honest and open.

He never snickers behind his hand... he doesn't make up his own rules...

I've had enough of this shit... really I have!

I am guilty at laughing at a few of his comments in the past, but I still think he is a idiot, but I'm sure Patrick won't loose any sleep over what I think of him and vice versa.

Sadly there are a few members on here that think he is some sort of martyr and add fuel to his fire such as "good to have you back Patrick......thats what I like about you Patrick...etc, etc".

Many ex-pats come to this forum for a chuckle, some for serious discussion, others to ask things that dance on that thin line, but one thing I have learned....don't take everything to heart and above all enjoy yourself, we are all in the same boat here, were all Brits living in the U.S or trying to get here, so lets help out the best we can, I for one certainly enjoy sharing my experiences with you my fellow ex-brits.....so cheers-bottoms up.

I know... but for the love of God, remember unless you know someone personally you can not assume to know them at all!

Here's a fact.... I've never met a single soul that has been as nasty to me as british Ex-Pats (not this board... but in general online) -- I can picture them sneering behind their screen, grinning and thinking how clever they are.

It's f'kin sad to say the least... and I've never been known to say the least so here it all is.

Who the f'ck do they think they are.... they wouldn't know me if I sat next to them... but, they've got it all figured out haven't they.

Pathetic and beyond my realm of comprehension. I've never claimed to be that brightest light on the dock... nor have I ever claimed to be the nicest person you will ever meet.

But I can swear by this... I do turn the other cheek, I forgive and I forget.

Like I said.... "I have nothing to say!"
