Hello:
I have a quick question. When I look at the timeline site on Matt Udall's page, for processing times of various things, it says that for San diego the processing time of the EAD is between 1 and 5 days. We filed for my husband's EAD on Aug. 9, a month ago. Do they mean 1-5 days after he gets called in to go back downtown to the INS office to get his EAD? Thanks.

No, they mean one to five days from filing. However, these never include any mailing
delays so if he filed by mail (and I guess he did) then it could be longer. The one
day is usually a big clue they allow filing in person and getting the EAD same-day
(sometimes just on specific days though).
The other thing to note is that these are estimates culled from attorneys filing.
They are notoriously inaccurate (for instance, they state Arlington as taking 90 days
for EADs but with very rare exceptions, everyone seems to get theirs in 40-50 days).
Andy.

Hello, Andy:
thanks for your reply!
However, my husband filed in person for his EAD and at the the same time we submitted our filing for AOS.
I had read on a web page for EAD in San Diego, where a year ago, this man had gone in person to that same office, and received his EAD the very same day. However, when we got to the counter and I gave the lady our papers for filing (and our money) I asked her if we get his EAD today and she said "No, we'll send you a letter with a date to come back." That's why I was curious why the discrepancies. Now I'm even more confused. And worried. We waited 5 hours to get into the INS to file in person, to be sure everything was done properly. I hope she knew what she was doing. She was very unfriendly and not helpful at all. The place was packed with people and I dread going through it all again. Can you tell me anything else that might help?
Oh by the way, we used an attorney for the K-1, but are doing everythng else ourselves. The attorney had offered to do our EAD, and for attorneys it is 1-day EAD only on Wednesdays. (Closed to all others on Wednesdays, open only to attorneys.) Thank you!
