Puerto Rico

Hi, I'am a US Citizen living in California and was wondering is Puerto Rico part of the United States? and can I being a US Citizen live and work in Puerto Rico? I speak fluent spanish so getting a job will be easy.

Thank You

Uhhm, if this is for real....not sure how to even begin asking where you got the idea to ask such a question in "British Expats" message board, but here goes....

Puerto Rico is not a state, but is a commonwealth territory of the United States. Yes, you can live and work there. Puerto Ricans, although coming from a distinctly separate culture, are US Citizens.

(Just a note, it never ceases to amaze me how I, raised outside of the US and going mainly to British schools, know more about the US (history, geography and government) then most born+ bred natural born Americans do. That on top of them not knowing F all about the outside world. Pretty sad.)

Re: Puerto Rico

Thank you for your help, I appreciate it.

PS: Yeah I admit I don't know much about the US since I lived most of my life in Mexico.
