Thank you!

Most of that "international migration" appears to be coming from Mexico (not a fact, just an observation - when you've spent as much time at my local BCIS office and talked to as many local immigrants and immigrant organisations as I have...) so not so "international " eh?

(Considering that NV used to be part of Mexico..lol)

Ding Ding Ding, thread closed. We have a winner.

We move where our spouses live. Very few couples have the financial freedom or job security to up sticks during an immigration process when money can get very tight.

I'd like to move to some where more scenic nature wise and spacious eventually. Delaware is nice, beautiful, large and cheap houses (no sales tax either ), and it has some intense thunderstorms for a light show

Erm, a dissenter

My husband and I moved after my arrival in the US.

He had lived here previously but his ex-wife didn't like it..lol

I came here, liked it too and so we moved back.

We have also thought about living in other places such as Santa Fe and Big Sur.

My husband's job is fully transferrable though so any move only involves one of us having to look for work.

My USC spouse is not from anywhere in particular in the US (moved around a lot before I met him) and before relocating to the UK was living in Fairfax County, VA.

Due to the lack of job opportunities in Northern VA as well as pretty high property prices, we moved to where he found a job. I know of a BritishExpat member who moved this year to where he could find work and it's completely unrelated to where his USC spouse came from.

My wife is from Maryland, yet we shall be moving to Florida, mainly because of my line of work (Casinos - hence cruises/gambling ships).

Must admit I like the idea of the climate there though.

However, we will not be anchored there. We may choose to move on, possibly to be nearer to her family, but for the immediate future we shall be where I can work.

This is all in the future though.

Roll on January

What I wouldn't give to live in Big Sur But what kind of work would you get there Laird? Seemed pretty remote to me....

I'd have to make my own job....

My husband is lucky enough to be able to run his businesses from virtually anywhere he can get a half-decent internet connection.

At least the house prices at Big Sur are comparative to here so they don't make me flinch too badly..lol

1.2 - 1.3 mil and up for something on the coast.

$500k for something a little more set back.

$500k here gets you a VERY low end house or a reasonably liveable, smallish condo.

Sometimes I look at what we could get for what we are paying here and wonder if I should move. Trouble is I like it here.. DAMM.

I love Scott's Valley though (up in the hills outside of Santa Cruz)... Monterey too. Lots of lovely places on the coast.

My husband just MIGHT be persuaded to live in CA. I think he's too concered that he'd have to leave all his guns behind.....

Lucky You. We won't make it down this year (again) as we are off to the UK in September. Sis' in the Carson Valley is not too pleased.

Oops sorry the pic arrived before the text......note conch sheel on picket fence and neighbour relaxing 24/7 on his porch....

Anyway....there is no way I am releasing the location of the place where I will be living the rest of my life with my beautiful southern woman....

It is quiet.....a rest from a hectic UK city....birds sing, the occasional dingbatter drives past in the summer looking for property to buy and become a ditdot...squirrels play in the mimosa, cat sleeps in the shade, dog dozes next to me on the swing with one ear open for the UPS man, (he hates him!), Juice Newton or Barbara Mandrell drifting from the stereo....

The tv is fine. I can watch Formula one though the commentary is crap compared to ITV and there are too many ads, but Wings, Discovery, History keep me occupied when I have time from sitting on the porch just soaking in the NC ambience...

This is heaven!!
