Price of gas update...

Re: Price of gas update...
We've only been here for 8 weeks, it was about $3.45 at the start of August and went up to about $3.90 after the hurricanes, so it's way cheaper - and of course waaaaaaaay cheaper than the UK!

Look at you getting me all curious with your living in Mississippi and whatnot. I've sent you a PM.

Yes. I seem to recall many people predicting that the price will go very high and then right before the election drop way down. It was going to be lower anyway when they switched to the winter formula but timing's pretty convenient. Look out for McCain/Palin to mention how the republicans have taken measures to lower gas prices and you are now seeing it.

$2.65 or so around here. A friend of mine just bought a Ford Expedition, two years old, fully loaded leather and everything with just over 30K miles for $11,900! I wish I had money, I'd go truck shopping!:curse:

Re: Price of gas update...
My local Shell has $2.57 today, I have a Shell mastercard which gives 5% rebates so technically paying 2.45.
One thing that pisses me off around my way is that a lot of places started having different prices for cash or credit back when the prices were high. The difference in price was 10 cents. Now that prices have come way down they are still offering a price difference of 10 cents. I thought credit cards charge a percentage so they must be making more now than they were before (on top of that their cash price is usually only slightly lower than the Shell I go to).

I think the term you're looking for is "Real Americans". They're the ones who have jobs and love God, not the liberals.

I'll have to double check but if you use a visa or mastercard then it specifically states 3 things a retailer can't do in the card acceptance agreement they sign. One is charging a fee or higher rate for purchases made on the card. One I forget and the other is routinely asking for ID, they should only ask for it if the signature on the card doesn't match what's signed. You can call visa/mastercard and report the retailer for doing either of those.

The merchant is not supposed to charge a credit card processing fee. One trick a couple of the Arco stations here do is charge you .50 cents or close for using a debit or credit card. I complain every time I get caught out and every time they tell me: we know (and we don't care). I've called Visa/MC on them and reported it. I just don't go to those stations anymore.
