I saw a regular roadside gas station today at $1.65. Costco was even cheaper but the lines were too long.

That's because I couldn't find the most up-to-date price for any station across town where it is always less, no one seems to post them on Sat. & Sun. Seems like they always go up here on Friday, also. I live close to all the nicest shopping areas so they want to sock it to you while you're out spending.

Maybe they work on the assumption that while people are already in the "feelgood" weekend mood, and are out spending money they won't care... ?

PS, you use "gasbuddy.com"?

Thanks for the gasbuddy.com tip - interesting resource!

I filled up my car with premium today for less than $2/gallon; first time in a LONG time!

Yes...gasbuddy is my friend...however, it's always the same stations that have the best prices in my neighborhood. I like to check it if I need to fill up after work while running errands in places other than where I live.

$1.55 in the next 'burb and $1.63 on the corner.

Well and Kroger varies-one in my town is currently 8 cents more a gallon then the one a further 7 miles away.

Same here, gasbuddy lists them, but I know where the good ones are that aren't listed that often come in lower. It's the same ones in my area that consistently have the best prices compared to the others. There's a place here that consistently hits up to 10c lower than everyone else, and it's never down on gasbuddy even after I list it with them.

What always amuses me is the 5c difference on either side of the street at the same intersection.

If you have google as your home page, add this gadget -

http://www.google.com/ig/directory?h...Flocal_gas.xml

I found it more reliable than the gasbuddy one...
