The sticker price at a local BP was $2.049 yesterday. We filled up our Accord and truck at $1.049 using our Kroger discount, so we should by OK through to the end of September.

Just drove cross the US. Varied from $3.24 down to $1.99 per gal. Interesting that high altitude fuel was 85 octane not 87.

We have limited oxygen up here. big difference in performance between say Denver and the Mountains for a naturally aspirated vehicle.

Hearing the crisp packets pop as you go over the passes also interesting.

I was under the impression that running lower octane at altitude was beneficial for vehicles that don't have electronically controlled fuel systems, so your basic carburetor set up in an old 70's Chevy would benefit but are there really that many vehicles on the roads of pre-emissions controls age to justify lower octane in the Rocky mountain states?

BTW, I-70 west from Denver to I-15 is an insane example of civil engineering.

2.75 by me but according to the TV this morning can be had for a dollar less in Denver. Going to Georgetown on Monday to ride the train, leaves are not that good this year, the snow a few weeks back did them no good.

Will fill up at Costco Friday and report back.

Last week it was $1.63 at Sam's. Last night I saw stations ranging from $1.99 to $1.69 per gallon all within 10 miles of each other.

I know the West Coast is in a different time zone, but you also appear to be living in a different decade!
