Litres are a tool used by communists to make the price of gas seem cheaper.

Looks like things are getting back to normal, the fact that we're no longer price matching you as we have been all through the previous eight months and are now back to trailing by double digits.

There is an area of NC an hour or so from me, that I pass through fairly regularly, where gas is typically, for about 10 months of the year, in the range 10c-20c cheaper than the prices I have been quoting since March, which are often higher than the ones you quote. Exceptionally the difference can reach 25c-30c, as it did in March. It got down at least as far as the low $1.50 range ..... when I didn't need gas. My local gas stations hit a floor just below $1.80. Not that it mattered as our vehicles had full tanks and nowhere to go.

For the other couple of months, the price differential reverses. I have never noticed a pattern, or any rational explanation for the difference, and it can be for as little as a couple of weeks at a time, and sometimes more than a month.

Imperial gallons make gas seem more expensive, but one gets better mileage. My 1967 Sunbeam was calibrated in gallons and it took me a while to figure out why it was so โ€œinaccurate.โ€

Wishing I'd topped up in Punta Gorda before heading home this afternoon. $2.029 down there, $2.099 spreading up here.

I paid $1.759 /gallon in northern Atlanta today. It cost less than $15 to fill my car up with another 8 gallons (the fuel tank wasn't empty).

It was $1.899 at the weekend, but was down to $1.839 yesterday when I went to get gas for my chainsaw.

We seem to be heading for record low prices locally as the lowest it got in the spring, IIRC, was around $1.789. Prior to that I guess it was probably 2004 since we last saw gas prices lower than that.

Local is $1.87 this morning. Although, in town (8 miles away), it's $2.24!

I filled up in Alabama at the weekend at $1.81. Saw one place (later) at $1.76.
