Default Prevailing Wage? Source?

I've read notes about the prevailing wage.

L1 no requirement but significantly less could cause problems. So I assume the employer needs to state what I'll be paid in USD.

Where do they obtain the prevailing wage from?

Let's say for example the prevailing wage on glassdoor for my position in LA is 105K.

What range would they be looking at and what would cause possible issues?

TIA

Not sure I follow this. Prevailing wage must be at minimum wage? I assumed it would be the average wage for the job position. Am I correct in thinking this?

You selected the All Industries database for 7/2017 - 6/2018. Your search returned the following:

Prevailing Wage is defined as the hourly wage, usual benefits and overtime, paid in the largest city in each county, to the majority of workers, laborers, and mechanics. Prevailing wages are established, by the Department of Labor & Industries, for each trade and occupation employed in the performance of public work.

I read your question regarding prevailing wage must be at minimum wage and think that, for a job to qualify under the prevailing wage definition, it must be at or above the minimum wage for that area -nothing more.

If you are looking to obtain an L-1A or B visa then, taking into account your example of Database administrator in LA area, the prevailing wage for this work is between 57,928 USD and 115,000 per annum.

Anything much lower that this is going to bring into question whether the job warrants an L-1A/B visa.

Great thanks for the clarification. What threw me off was the part in bold on the site.

I just looked up my wage. I guess I am lucky that I have always been paid 10% above the maximum wage shown in this database. I wonder where they get the numbers from. The only employers that paid within the pay range have been government employers that came with PERS benefits. Maybe these salaries assume a 10% H1B discount.

That is a "boiler plate" warning. Look at the figures after the "Level x."

Anyway I know it's not a requirement for the L1 visa but recommended.

The Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) requires that the hiring of a foreign worker will not adversely affect the wages and working conditions of U.S. workers comparably employed. To comply with the statute, the Department's regulations require that the wages offered to a foreign worker must be the prevailing wage rate for the occupational classification in the area of employment.

The prevailing wage rate is defined as the average wage paid to similarly employed workers in a specific occupation in the area of intended employment.
average so:
Mean Wage (H-2B): $46.28 hour - $96,262 year
