Prescriptions - Discount Info for Humans and Pets

For anyone who has to pay towards their prescriptions or if coverage under Medicare Part D doesn't cover their prescription charges, there is a (free) discount scheme in junction with the AAA motoring organisation for members. I only found out about it when glancing through one of their newsletters which I received in the post.

It covers all members of the family (and pets which are suffering from similar ailments that humans get) and 90% of pharmacies nationwide give a discount of 'an average of 24%' on the prescription price, whether they're the local 'good neighborhood' pharmacies or the big chains like Walgreens, CVS etc.

I had to get a prescription filled yesterday; I'm with BUPA International insurance with contracts out to United Healthcare International in the US, so I have to pay for my prescription and send in the receipt which is repaid less 10%.

I went to my local pharmacy and asked about the AAA discount and showed my membership card (they also have the pharmacy discount card online which you can print off if it isn't on the back of your card). I was pleased to get a discount (forgot to ask how much it was, but the cost was only $18.70 and I thought it would cost far more than that).
