Default Preclearance planned for Manchester UK

Looks like CBP might be planning to have an outpost in Manchester - at some point in the next 10 years!

LHR too though where they could put it is the question - probably won't happen there unless and until the third runway and T6 get authorized.

Interesting news, this is where I fly to the US from 9 times out of 10.

Yup, I'm regularly doing NYC <-> MAN usually via LHR or sometimes DUB. To me a lot will depend on which airlines take advantage of it. Business class is out of my price range and economy in a legacy US carrier, who are the only airlines that currently fly direct NYC <-> MAN, does not appeal.

When you go via DUB do you get to preclear there even though it is a transfer?

Yes usually, unless the ex-DUB flight misses the pre-clearance closing time (around 4pm) which did happen to me one time when there was a UK ATC outage that delayed lots of feeder flights into DUB.
