Default Pre-school for my 3 years old daughter- Thousand oaks

Hi all.

In the 2-3 months time me, my wife and my three years old daughter will be relocating from London to California (Westlake Village/ Thousand Oaks). More than luckily for the first months or two, I will be looking after my daughter while we settle in and start working. After that, I would need to find a preschool for my 3 years old daughter in Thousand Oaks. I was wondering if anyone could please give me an indication on how much the preschools cost in California (Thousand Oaks)? Also if you have any suggestion on which one to choose, feel free to let me know., it will be much appreciated.
Also in London, the government offers some discount (15 hours), regardless how much the house old income is, does exist similar thing in CA?

It's big country with thousands of authorities but in general, no public funding for preschool in the US. Free school starts at Kindergarten aged 5.

Edit: what do you know, CA are working on it https://www.gov.ca.gov/2021/07/09/ca...ublic-schools/

It's been 2 years in the offing... no progress yet; and with California now in deficit, it's no likely to happen anytime soon.

In MA most daycare is in line with a typical mortgage payment per child for FT (5 days full). Depending on age and location ranging 1500-3000 USD/month/child. I cant imagine CA being much different.

We sent ours to a program at the local synagogue, congregants got a discount, but it was about 1/3 to 1/2 the cost of the for profit places… it was around $1500 a month for 9am-6pm for 3’s (babies were most and it got cheaper for mail PreK when it was a smaller class and went back up) - you signed up for 12 months, the other option was 10 months with the summer off. Enrichments like sports and cooking were extra… and there was of course a waitlist…. We had friends who waited 6+ months for a spot and had priority because they already had a sibling in a higher grade…

Ah yes waitlists..... Sports are extra for us as well, add on ~400 a month for day care and town related sports. We are at about ~2400/month/child

we use for joke that daycare was like buying a new car every year… per kid… with the increase in car prices… that’s now only a low trim / small SUV… the upside to daycare was the hours were much longer than school… kids get out at 3:30pm now and that only gets earlier in middle and high school…
