they can only do the NI thing for a max of 5 years. And it will stop and switch to SS as and when we no longer reside here on a visa (ie we will at that point switch to local terms and conditions, lose the repatriation, ni option, uk redundancy amount (far bigger than US amount), uk holiday and paternity entitlement etc. - and move to the local conditions (although you can be sure we will try to negotiate some of the items like holiday etc.
