Look at the USA website and research...the rules change all the time.

You will not be allowed in as a partner alone....unless you are married and you and the kids are direct dependents of your husbands.
Depending on where you want to live in USA, be wary of education. You have teens and they are at an age where they may not fit in culturally and/or will have a hard time at school (ps. the public education system east coast USA is much better than west coast)...the UK public edu system is often better than USA. You will pay dearly for college in the USA.
America is not at all like UK and it can be a very big culture shock. I spent the first five years being homesick and the last five years being driven mad by the political systems here!!..that said, we have learned a lot and I would still take the experience...It is hard work though.
