Please Help - Marketing and Adverting Headhunters NYC??

Re: Please Help - Marketing and Adverting Headhunters NYC??
Having someone get overly hung up on current usage of the word "head hunter" was unfortunate as it is quite clear that most recruiters call themselves "head hunters" these days, they just do, and it was quite clear to me that that was what you meant, so I don't think that attacking you for your usage was appropriate or necessary.

Headhunter - somebody that doesn't ever advertise jobs but goes after people for specific roles they've been hired to fill.
Recruitment agency - somebody that does advertise jobs to all via their own website or others, has a pool of candidates to draw from, and are often retained by companies for all recruitment.
I didn't attack anybody, and tbh I'm surprised you think I did, as I thought it was pretty clear that all I was doing was trying to clarify exactly what the OP was looking for? Asking for recommended headhunters is to me like asking for a recommended policeman to arrest you, something that you shouldn't normally need to look for.

Erm....where exactly did I 'attack' the OP for it? I questioned it, as to me they're two very different things.

Come on Mary, it's got its humorous aspects, but we can be helpful too, I'm sure someone in the biz will come along shortly.

To the OP - with the greatest respect you're highly unlikely to find the answer you're looking for on here, it's too specialized a request. Your best bet is LinkedIn or word of mouth from within the industry.
My second recommendation - and I mean this sincerely - is if you're looking to get headhunted for a high-level role check your spelling very carefully and utilize American grammar and spelling. It may seem pedantic but it's the kind of thing that may get your resume or approach instantly put into the trash pile.

On a practical level - join relevant LinkedIn groups, contribute to group discussions, pinpoint the members who may be of use to you, follow them, build rapport etc etc.
Depending on where you are moving, there may be a local chapter for you to get information from.
Happy 'Adverting'!

Thanks for the helpful comments. I realise that it's a specialised question but thought it was worth a shot.

Another point, since we're all anonymous strangers on the internet, one / more of us may be in the industry that you're in. We may even be interested in 'headhunting' you. That's why the advice to focus on your online image is quite important.
All the best for your search.

Yes but what if a headhunter had been looking?

Personally I am inclined to AGREE with on the definition of "HH" v "recruiter", as with certain other terms, but common usage has moved on no matter how much we wish it hadn't.

We're all like a bunch of folks down the virtual pub.
We discuss, joke, laugh, argue with each other and everyone who comes along.
You can get excellent information and advice from many experienced people here.
However in return a little back and forth is expected. Talk about your intentions, your plans, where you're coming from, where you're going...that sort of thing.
Don't just expect to come along and treat it as a free consultancy. No fun in that.

Seriously? So asking 'do you mean a recruitment agency maybe?' and saying 'good luck' are correcting somebody aggressively are they?
I did also say that perhaps it's different in other industries, and that I was referring to my specific experience. But hey, that's clearly very aggressive and I'm sorry that I scared the OP with my nasty words.
The mind boggles sometimes, it really does.

You missed out the "leg pulling"! ..... Unfortunately, reduced to a few words in a forum, posts here on BE lose all the context and nuances of tone of voice and facial expression.
