Re: Phone interviews in the U.S.
Wish I had some tips for you but to be honest, my only successful interview since I moved here (the one I did in September) was for a job I was already doing at another company.
If this is for something you are accomplished at, play that up without coming across as cocky. Make them want to hire you and you'll breeze through it

Re: Phone interviews in the U.S.
We had another thread about interviews recently:
http://www.businessweek.com/articles...ations#r=hp-ls
Basically, many interviews in the USA are not a a-b-c-d test of what qualifications or experience you may or may not have, but more a test of 'will this person work in the office environment we have'--is this person a good 'cultural fit' for our office.
In a sense, the interview is kind of like a first date. If you come across as a bad fit you won't get the job no matter how good your qualifications.
Worth a look.
