PENSIONS
I start getting my UK OAP pension at the end of the month ..its all arranged and will be paid direct into my bank here.
My question is ...bases on my contribution for 30 years
will my wife who has never lived or worked in the UK
get a pension from them as well...

Contact the Pension office for a conclusive answer.

Re: PENSIONS
Generally a spouse with no NI contributions can use the other spouse's contributions to get about 60% of the pension benefit.
So as a married couple with you having the only full NI contribution record you should get 1.6 x the single pension rate.

Re: PENSIONS
Interesting.. .so that would be true for a non (UK) citizen spouse as well? And I wonder how the SS windfall provision is handled in such cases?

Re: PENSIONS
I assume so I I can't find any language that addresses the nationality of the spouse, just the NI contribution history. I don't know who WEP works for married couples.

So the story
when I was 62 I got a letter from the US Social security saying as I paid in zero .. I would in future be paid zero every month.. it made my wife laugh
so when I got my pension detail it gave the amount and start date and 4 more pages of stock letter waffle ...but it did have a paragraph saying my wife may be eligible for a pension based on my contributions ..Of course I assumed like most people would she had no chance as she has never lived there, never paid in and no NI number so I left it for a week, then on a whim I decided to file, mainly to give her a letter saying "your kidding"
So we got the reply
She will get $410 a month paid direct into her bank in the US
NUN was right all others myself included were wrong

Re: PENSIONS
I was looking at that last Friday. The reading I did and messing about with the calculators on the SS website, I concluded each person is treated individually when it comes to WEP.
When my wife claims SS they will calculate her WEP based on her other pensions. I get a percentage of her full payment, then they deduct my WEP based on my other pensions.
