Aren't you supposed to slam your hands on the hood and shout. I'm walking here!

Give me another couple of years in NYC and I'm certain I'll be doing that, if not that then possibly wrenching open the drivers door dragging him out and punching his lights out. I like to set a good example for my child.

Pedestrian crossing logic is quite simple: "might is right".

Traffic signals are one of the things that the US has just got completely f**ked up - for both drivers and pedestrians.

Just try making a right turn at a busy intersection - it is impossible - as soon as the cross traffic stops there is an endless stream of pedestrians crossing the street that you want to turn into which continues until after the lights turn red again and the cross traffic starts up again ...

How hard is it to design a system where there are separate time slots for pedestrians and cars?

I've seen a few of those with no turn on red and then there is a red in all directions so that pedestrians can cross the street. The problem is that instead of waiting 2 minutes for your signal to turn green, you wait 4 minutes.

So approximately 1/3 rd less cars per hour can move through that intersection if there is heavy traffic.

The little ****ers. Then they end up in hospital/ER and those without health cover end up with a huge bill that the rest of the 'system' has to cover.

How is that right AND not a socialised medical system? I'd like a Republican to answer that one please.

No problem in 110'F heat - nobody's out walking. Except mad dogs & Englishmen...

But at least when the light turns green you actually get to make a right turn without having to give way to pedestrians. The problem with the current system is that there is no upper bound on how long you might have to wait in order to make a completely legal right turn since you are always blocked by either cross traffic or pedestrians crossing the street that you want to turn into ...
