Default Paying student loans in the UK

OK, thouhgt I would start a new thread for this question even though I touched on it in my credit card question.

Those fo you paying off your UK student loans from here in the US, what method do you use, how often do you pay and how do you pay?

Just started paying back mine, made 6 months worth of payment over the phone using my credit card (see credit card post for gripe about that!) and am just looking to find the best way to go about it in future being as it is going to take a while to pay it off!!!

I ain't earning enough to pay...but I organised it so that if I am earning, I could just pay annually and get a refund if I over pay...though I'd send them a check from the UK bank and just do a wire transfer once a year to cover the cost...obviously that'll depend on the amount they want though...and I sorted it that way rather than direct debit because I ain't paying regulary...
