Passports and MN1

Sorry for yet another passport question. But............

I am a British Citizen, wife is American, we adopted our 2 kids (5 & 8) from birth and I am now going down the long road of getting them UK passports.

I have filled out the MN1 forms, and have stacks of supporting documentation etc. So I think I am all ok there.

The question is simply,,, can I send in the MN1 forms, AND the C2 passport application together in the same packet?.......... Or do I have to do the MN1, wait for the process to come full circle and then submit the passport app?

I hope you can shed light.

I had to wait for the registration certificate (not sure if thats what it's called) for Dd (also adopted in the US) to send in her application for a passport. Didn't seem to take long either.
