What is the normal turn around time between when I'm charged the passport processing fee and when one should expect to actually receive the new passport?

Getting a bit desperate, since I was required to also send in my current US passport containing British my Right of Abode stamp. I have pending business trip March 5th to the UK and find myself without either my US or British Passports with which to travel.

Regards
Tom

Based on what others say, it takes weeks, normally.

You should have ignored the instruction about your US passport ... they accept photocopies of that.

I renewed mine and my kids UK passport just before Christmas. UK Embassy in DC got our applications on Dec 24 and we got new passports back on Jan 10. Considering it was Christmas and the weather was awful, it wasn't too bad. We got the passports about 2 or 3 days after the fee had been taken from my OH credit card.

2 weeks! Wow this is ridiculous. It's been almost 8 weeks for me. I live in Newton, Mass.
