My wife says it's kind of enforced...more than before. But if you are British, speak like a Brit and have British connections (grandparents address?) no-one is going to query it. The only issue may be not being registered with a GP....

We hardly ever go to the Drs, even less here because of the cost but it's sods law they will need something while they are away. They are staying with friends so I'm not too worried and they don't take any regular meds so we don't have that to worry about.

They are so excited. We have spent the day buying presents for everyone....lots of Hersheys chocolate as I feel we shouldn't suffer alone.

I hope you're packing them light. So that they can bring back lots of proper chocs (mars, Bounty, Crunchie, Maltesers, Minstrels) and of course Bourbon biscuits......

I have stopped missing chocolate but it's cheese I really miss.
There is so much I would like them to bring back, easier to just drag England accross the Atlantic and anchor it in Lake Eerie.

Anyway they have gone and should be in Philly as I type. Peace for 3 weeks and some Boots goodies on their return.

I have a cheesemaking book I bought about six months ago and was reading through it last night. The chapter on Cheddar made me drool I miss a good slice of real cheddar cheese, not the plasticky stuff that passes for it.

Hope they have a wonderful time JD!

It does and I do buy it, also the Black Diamond cheddar.
I was spoiled in the UK as we had a cheese shop on the high street and another one in Liverpool and one in Chester.
I used to buy lovely cheddar made on small farms and it was dry and sharp and just had a wonderful flavour. Big sighs.
Never mind I am going to the UK next year...I am determined.

I hate to keep pluggin it but The British Shoppe in CT sells Quickes Cheddar which is made on a small farm just outside Crediton in Devon. Its is perfect sharp, crumbly, tangy and very strong. I couldnt belive it when I saw it there so far from home. My parents always used to buy it on their way home from the weekly shopping trip into Exeter. How you doing with your EAD anyway - going to reenter the world of work??

We have had to visit the doctors several times over the years and even had to call a doctor to the house for one very sick baby. I haven't had any bills or issues, although I was expecting hit. A couple of years ago my mother took really sick here. It was awful and when she did get home she said she would never call the NHS again. In saying that I love that we can get appointments with specialist within weeks instead of the usual months it takes back in the UK.

We are rushing around getting medicals done. The company are paying for everything
They didn't want to but we said we had had enough. We have spent far more than they have getting here in the first place, they are not very helpful with anything, hence we spent a year paying masses of tax. I could go on...

The two older ones have had their medicals before they left and the rest of us go next week or the week after.
The teenagers went to West Virginia and the Drs were lovely.

The lawyers are under pressure to file before the fees go up.

Does the British Shoppe do mail order?

We did our meds the other week in anticipation that we would be filing after the 1-140 got approved through expedited processing. Low and behold the attorneys screwed up paperwork and we are only just resubmitting something that was missing from the petition in '03. So cant file the meds or for the GC adjustment yet either....Grrrrr :curse: Its like been four weeks now!!
One good thing the Co is paying it all, including for an MMR vaccine and a pregnancy test for me which was part of the medical. You couldnt make it up!!

Yes Brit Shoppe does mail order. You can order online and they send throughout usa - dont know how they ship chilled stuff but.... www.thebritishshoppe.com Madison CT. Quickes, yummy,
