Hi, quick question. I'm applying for a k1 visa for my fiance and I owe
the government some money. Will this effect my application? Must I
pay the government in full before appyling? Thanks a lot. -----chris

It will affect your application insofar as you are required to provide copies of your tax returns, and you will be required to demonstrate earnings at or above 125% of the poverty level. Unpaid taxes are probably going to show up at some point... and that doesn't make for a good impression!

Hi Crozier,

If the scenario is that you filed your taxes, but are making payments on what you owe, I think that would be OK. I don't think it all has to be paid in full, before completing the I-134. Just as long as you can show you filed and are making the payments.

By the way, you are filing the I-129F. It's actually your fiance who applies for the K-1 visa.
