Re: Our move from Chorley to Pittsburgh
Hi Dave
Great to hear about your experiences so far. I'm also moving to PA (Philly) from Manchester in a couple of months. Slightly different circumstances as it will be a 2 year secondment and I'm travelling only with my partner (not married yet). But it's good to hear that some of the basic stuff will be easy to sort out.
I'm actually travelling out early Feb to hopefully line up an apartment.
All the best with the rest of the move and I will keep a keen eye on your thread

Nice to see you getting into the spirit!!
...and just because I'm sure you haven't seen enough of these this week...
...and just for those who don't know how to spell...
Sadly, not the right result, but still proud of the achievement!

Re: Our move from Chorley to Pittsburgh
Hi all, another brief update on how things are progressing.
We are back in the UK following our initial entry on the visas.
We have set up renters insurance through AIG using the Travelguard product obtained through International Autosource.
We have ordered 2 new phones on a contract, again obtained via T-mobile and AIG Travelguard.
My EAD is being processed and I can check the application online.
We have managed to set up Gas and Electric accounts for the apartment from the UK and without SSN's. This was a bit of a pain as it seems that an SSN is the standard ID check and we are having to do paper applications e-mailed with copies of photo ID, but it has been done.
UK house sale due to complete in a couple of weeks and I can't wait to transfer funds asap as we are being killed by the strength of the dollar that had already lost us over $10,000!
All going well really and I can't praise the International Autosource and AIG Travelguard products enough, they really are excellent.
