OTT grad night?
From an e-mail received from my sons' high school today:
"Bloggs High School 2005 GRAD NIGHT TOURS:
Get a sneak peek of the decorations of a $40,000 party by touring the Bloggs Grad Night 2005 party venue on Friday, June 10 between 4 and 7 p.m. at Bloggs High School.
Admission is free, but donations will be gratefully accepted.
No seniors allowed - it is a surprise!"
$40,000??? :scared:
That's over $90 per graduating senior!!!
Obviously this money was raised by the students and their parents, and no doubt a fair amount of sponsorship was received as well. Nevertheless, seeing that the school is forever grumbling about education cuts (thanks Arnold! ), I do feel this money could have been better spent.
Is this normal here?

Re: OTT grad night?
Could be the cost of about 4 fireworks being shot off...
Is a bit extreme if the school is cutting back on classes though...

This doesn't surprise me, look at some of the money spent on the parties after the bush re-election, Nero fiddled while rome burned, the cost of this party wouldn't even cover dubya's coke after a republican party convention.

Grad Night - yes its normal
$40,000 on Grad Night - Depends on where you live.
When I graduated, Grad Night was spent at Disneyland, the whole night. It was pretty cool. But, I guess schools are deciding to do things differently now.
Fundraising seems to be the name of the game these days for public schools, I hate it. But, I suppose if these funds are raised by the parents or kids, why shouldn't they spend it on their Grad Night?
