Nice area. Although we've not spent too much time in Camarillo, we always stop off there for a bite to eat and a look around when we're driving up from LA to Santa Barbara.

I've sent a PM.

Very exciting times ahead..........again, well done on making your decision.

I realise this is a very late response and you may have already started making the move but thought I would chime in. We moved over to Orange County last year and the company I work for as a Sales Director offered me $100k salary + benefits + $50k achievable bonus +$15k moving costs and even then its still tough to put any money away here in South OC! We are a family of 3 and my husband runs his own business bringing in a similar amount and we have to pay for childcare for an 18month old - it is still TOUGH! When we talk to family back home they think its ridiculous that we earn way into 6 figures but the reality of cost of living in SoCal is something not many people really grasp until they make the move!! Make sure you over budget for everything - I always say a good rule is to write down the amount you 'think' you'll need to make this move then add another 30%. Either way, we love it here and it was absolutely worth the move!!

Indeed.
We're moving back there this summer. Mission Viejo/Laguna Hills etc..
(I used to live in Dana point so I know the area.)

Info on LA required

Hi Hotscot, have you considered Lake Forest? Have a look at any of the communities that belong to the Sun & Sail Club (Lake II Communities). It is a great community center with 9 tennis courts, pickleball, beach volleyball, basketball, fitness center, clubhouse, swimming pools, etc. The best part is the adult only pool & they set up a bar in the pool area every Sunday from May - September! Depending on which area you are in the HOA fees are as low as $88/month and if you are on the lake it is around $200/month as there are extra fees for the landscaping of all the green belts and front yards.

We lived in Mission Viejo when we first moved to California. It was a really nice area but we found it really hard to meet people.

Let me know if you are interested in more information, happy to send it your way.
Dawn

You lived in Mission Viejo then you moved next door to Lake Forest?
I don't think I have any need for 9 tennis courts and HOA fees.
Do you work for them?

THIS. I strongly suspect that means you dont have to pay CONTRIBUTIONS but you want to be sure there are no copays, deductibles, coinsurance etc or you will find you end up paying the doctor some regardless of what you dont pay your employer,

Yes we moved about 6 miles away from our original house in Mission Viejo to Lake Forest.
No I don't work for them, I am a member as we live in the community. We really enjoy the amenities and I find a lot of people don't know that it even exists.
Good luck with your move this summer!
