Default One way travel insuranc e for a Brit moving from the US to Australia

Hi,

My hubby and I are leaving DC in three weeks to move to Syndey. We are taking a break on the way and spending 3 weeks in the US and Canada and 3 weeks in England. I am a bit stumped when it comes to travel insurance though... we need to get one way travel insurance for the trip, but I've been told that as I am only a temporary resident here I will need to buy the insuranc e from the UK, but usually it is impossible to buy travel insurance once a trip has started, and my last flight from England was backin January - can anyone clarify/shed any light/offer any advice?

Thanks
Suzi
