Old-Fashioned Stuff That Still Functions

Re: Old-Fashioned Stuff That Still Functions
In the "not old, but old-fashioned" pile... I've always hated disposable razors and even worse are the prices now of razors with replaceable head-catridges... $37 on Amazon for 12 blades that are useless after three shaves? Seems a little much.
So I used electric shavers for years, but eventually they breakdown or become a PITA to travel and one day I decided to grow up and do this properly. And now every morning (well, not EVERY morning because I'm lazy), I break out the brush and sandalwood soap and shave with one of these, and it truly is the closest shave I've ever had, with the least amount of cuts:

I love this thing. Plus for half the price of the cartridges, you can get 100 good replacement blades. I've been using this for 2 years and still haven't gone through all my first batch of blades yet.
Other than that, I also have an old rotary phone I used for a while, which is great unless I'm talking long distance when no one can hear me.

That's why I want one . One of the 1960s ones as well, not the new, made in China imitations. I want a made in England one, like the Beatles and Brian May used ...
But for now, the Tonelab does the job very well. Those Orange amps are pretty tasty though, I've heard them in action a fair few times.

In fariness, Eb me old mate, the thread title does suggest that anorakory may be very likely to be taking place therein.
On that - I wish I still had my CPC and my Amiga ...

Spiders are good to have in the house. They eat mosquitoes and flies and all the annoying little twunts I hate. Plus jumping spiders freak the cat out in a very entertaining way.
Anoraks on the other hand? We have our uses too - you'd want me on your pub quiz team, put it that way.

I tend to avoid clothes-shopping, so I keep old clothes forever. Right now I'm wearing a skirt that I bought in the early 90s for work (now faded but perfectly fine for sitting around the house) & a fleece my daughter picked out when she was a pre-teen, then discarded when a few seams let go. I mended the holes & have worn it ever since. Clothes recycler extraordinaire, c'est moi!

Did think about trying a straight razor, but I'd probably kill myself and I don't know if I would bother stick with it and using a strop all the time.

All this talk of amps and the like.
Not old, but ish...
And one regret I do have in leaving it back in blighty, my mother has put it in the attic....my sound toys.
Had a NAD C something or other amp, that would blow you away, even cranked all the way to the top.
A pair of Tannoy R2's, best tower speakers I could afford, not as practical as B&W as a student, but they knew how to put out a lot of quality noise when they were powered by a decent amp.
A Marantz CD deck, could play everything under the sun and had amazing sound, even when playing knackered CD's, it was even able to play some cd's that had breaks in them that was pretty good, except the odd track on those discs.
Also had a Sony MD deck, those things were fab, shame they died on their arse, but as a student, so much easier grabbing tunes off friends with them, have stacks of drum n' base knocking around.

I haven't shaved since my wedding day (wife wasn't best pleased about that decision).
Save money on all sorts of things like razor blades and little bits of bloody bog roll stuck on your face.
Only downside I've found so far is it rubbed a hole in the collar of my anorak, so I had to move somewhere hot and dry(ish) so I didn't need to wear one any more... yet another cost saving. Apart from the gazillion dollars it cost to get here.
