oh my word... leaving the UK in FIVE DAYS!!!
And totally freaking out!! We thought we had everything covered but there's always another million things to do before leaving!! We've cancelled direct debits, sold most of our possessions that we didn't ship...
Can anyone give me any tips on the final days? We had a leaving party to see all our friends 2 weeks ago but it seems more people want to see us this week - dinners out etc... We'd love to but the timing is just so short now. Feel bad saying no as won't be seeing people for ages... ARGH being pulled in a million directions.
It's also REALLY weird living in a house with literally nothing in it. Last few things being sold Thursday (car, sofa, tv).
I'm having a hard time keeping my anxiety levels down. Been prescribed beta blockers but I hate them, so caning the rescue remedy at the moment. So if anyone has any advice to give... what did YOU do your final week?
It's gonna be a scorcher this week in the UK too, 27 degrees pretty much every day down South... (a nice send off, thanks English Summer you beauty!)

Relax. Prioritize only what is essential to do. Everything is in motion now, the arrangements made, just go with the flow, and get on the plane.

The weather was nice when we left too, and we had that realization of what we were leaving.

Yeah I need to chill - It doesn't help my 3 year old is being an utter nightmare, not sleeping til 11pm most nights, all over the place. Totally sensing the upheaval.
At this rate I need valium with my G&T on the plane..... !

I don't have any tips for how you achieve the chilling though
Did you get somewhere over here sorted out?

If everything is packed and out the door, then mentally 'check out' a day or so early--get everything done 24 hours before your flight and spend that last day just doing a bit of nothing. Visit your 'local' for a last drink, or a friendly restaurant you'll remember after you leave, or maybe someplace special like where you had your first date or something.

Try to find time to relax. Make sure you have set up people's Skype. We didn't test it while we were in the uk and it would have been much easier if we had got people to practice while we were still in the UK.

Eat sausages
Eat black pudding
Eat chips and gravy
Go round and take photos of local places
Have a wander round some historical places and soak up history for the last time in a while
That's about it.

You're going through exactly the same feelings we did one month ago....swear we spent the last two weeks just eating and boozing. If you think it's crazy now, wait until you arrive and you have to set up and entire new life, home from scratch...take it one thing at a time is about as good advice as I can give

+1 Black Pudding
+1 CHIPS (proper chippy chips) +1 Gravy
+1 History / Culture
You will never know how much you miss all the above until it's too late.
However we recently came back after 3(ish) years and found memories definitely better than the reality, we decided we'd become too Americanized) (see my computer is spelling that with a ZEE).
