Safe travels!
would this still apply if the legal guardians of the young LPR had approved L visas but did not yet have the visa processed into their passports?

On ESTA, if eligible, yes. NB: you can't work or stay for longer than 90 days. If you go this route, make sure you apply for ESTA more than 72 hours before departure and do not check in online as this will revoke your ESTA. If your ESTA is revoked, this can be re-instated by a DHS officer at LHR by showing the correct documentation (i.e. the minor's LPR status, and proof of ties to the minor).

Was the child born in the US? Citizens have to travel on their US passport.

From the OP it sounds like the child is LPR but not a citizen.

Hutchison wasn’t the OP and sounds to have a different situation. If the parents aren’t LPRs, not sure how the child could be, but could be a USC.

this is a strange thing to call yourself if you are a child’s parents (biological or adoptive), so there may be something else going on here.

I have moved your post and subsequent replies into a new thread, as the original thread became very confusing.

what I should have said is, we had a baby in the US last year, whom is now 11 months old , we are on L visas , which had expired and we received renewal approval, yet we are unable to book a processing interview at a US consulate outside of the US due to backlogs. Are we abled to travel to and from the UK and back into the US considering our baby is a US citizen.

(sorry wrong choice of initial words).,

So I'll revisit my initial query -- have you obtained a US passport for your child?

Because if you do want to rely on your child's citizenship, that is an essential.

PS Where did the nectar recipe come from?!

so you can’t leave anyway as your child would need a passport to board a flight. Unless you got the UK one? In that case you could leave, but may face issues boarding a plane to get back and even try to get back in.

This is a strange situation indeed as the OP parents could simply travel on ESTA with their UK passports (valid travel documents) and birth certificate of the baby in hand (exception from travel ban).

However, I am unsure if the baby can travel on an ESTA given the US citizenship status (assuming a UK passport has been issued)? As per https://help.cbp.gov/s/article/Artic...language=en_US, "U.S. Citizens are not required to have an ESTA and are required to use their U.S. passport to travel to the U.S."
