Default Obtaining Drivers Licence in PA

Just arrived in PA a week ago on Permanent Resident Visa.
Currently waiting for S/S number and 'Green Card'.
As I understand it, as soon as I have the S/S number I can apply for a PA drivers licence.
I asked the lady at the local DMV centre she said I just need my S/S number, my UK licence, 2 proofs of residency (e.g. utility bills) and passport (suitably stamped) and I could have the PA licence.

Sounds too simple!

Has anyone experience of the PA process?
(e.g. any tests required - eyesight, written, practical, etc.)

Thanks.

I asked about insuring a car and I was told that I must have a drivers license to do so (Florida)
A license was offered to me with just a passport, 2 utility bills and my UK dl. which is the old paper type without a photo. The license would be valid for the duration of my visa waiver (I am not a US resident )
No medicals etc just a fee of $54

I forgot to add that a s/s number was not required.

You'll need what she said (but not the UK licence) to get a learner's permit.

Plus a quick eye test (>0, <3)

Then start preparing for your driving test (multiple choice exam followed by a parallel park check and a trip around the block).

In PA you also need a basic physical signed by your doctor.
