A few years back we saw a huge herd in Wind Cave Natl Park, S. Dakota. We had to sit
in our car for almost half an hour while the herd crossed the rode - a pretty awesome site. -- Dave Addison remove the 'x' to reply peyej wrote: > > > > > > > > > > > > |
Many western indian reservations have their own herd of bison, esp in SD / ND/ WY /
MT. I find these sort of detours / stops more enjoyable as the indians were the original keepers of the buffalo. Riding Mountain National Park in western Manitoba has a large herd of Bison Herd.
Also, Wood Buffalo National Parl on the Alberta, Northwest Territories border has one of the last remaining, free roaming wood bison herds. peyej wrote: > > > > > > > > > > > > > > |

Lots in Yellowstone, Custer, and Roosevelt NPs. The Yellowstone herd is the easiest
to find along the road. Every summer afternoon between Canyon and Tower. -- Betty & Lewie http://lewbar.tripod.com > > > > > > > > > > > > > > |

For longer than a century, a herd has lived in Golden Gate Park. It's a CP, not an NP. |

I beleive there was a movement a few years ago to remove the bison, but I'm not sure if it has been accomplished. The enclosure still shows up on maps of GGPark. See http://www.sfgate.com/traveler/acrob.../ggparkmap.pdf, where it's called the "Bufalo paddock". ******* DAVE HATUNEN ([email protected]) ******* * Tucson Arizona, out where the cacti grow * ******* My typos are intentional copyright traps ****** |
