Unhappy This was not suppose to happen (not this quickly)

We just moved over by my husbands work from the UK.

He has worked there less than a month and now he has been informed that his job is 99.9% certain to be made redundant.

Has anyone else had this happen to them?

I'm so sorry to hear that! Can't really help much beyond that, though.

Wow, so your stuff comes damaged and you find this out, that does suck. Similar things get posed from time to time, sometimes it works out OK, other times not.

Yes not been the best start to our new lives here.

We have signed a years lease on the apartment not sure what happens about that if we do have to leave.

That really sucks.

Oddly enough, my husband heard a story very similar to yours a few weeks back. A lass had an in-house transfer to the US with the bank she works for (a well known bank). Sold up, moved to California and within a month of being there she was laid off.

You have my sympathy. I hope you get something sorted.

What happens? You leave. They'll probably try to sue you for breach of contract but if you're back living in another country... well, they can try!

Hopefully your husband had something in his contract regarding this type of stuff. Like paying any costs you incur, like rent, etc, and shipping stuff to your next port of call.

I hope so we still need to claim many of the expenses for moving over.

Is there any internal roles he could transfer too to stay employed? Even if it was for the short term - it might give him time to look for another job and persuade them to go for a H1B for him in April.

Is he on H1B visa? Then he can find another new employer over here, there is a grace period, if you all want to stay. And I believe even if you have to move back, the company need to compensate your moving expenses.

But yeah, it sucks.

I'm pretty sure that none of that is accurate, but I don't know for sure.
