I wouldn't asume any future visits to the US for a very long time. On what basis do you think you would get a visa and waiver for the overstay?

Mike you seem like a decent guy...what we are trying to tell you is getting a new UK PP is the easy part. It's getting back into the US that's the problem...you're an 'illegal' sooner or later your past is going to catch up with you and if you leave the US it will probably be sooner rather than later. Do what you think is best for you and good luck.

well don't go back until they send you.
delaying the inevitable I know.

The "Paddling a Lilo from Cuba" is also a popular method of immigration, although you'd need to be Cuban to try it.

No. There aren't any.
Your first post says that you came to the US 5 years ago for a wedding (not your own---did you come as a visitor) and that you decided to live here without papers for 5 years.

You've now earned a 10 year ban from the US that starts the day you leave.

Whether or not you get a new passport (and where it came from) makes no difference. You are still You. You can not prove that you have been OUT of the US for the past 4 years 9 months. The burden is on YOU to prove that you are eligible to re-enter. You are simply not.

This is not a paperwork dodge. There is no way you can create the impression that you have been living anywhere else for the last 5 years.

If you leave, the US adventure is over. You have to balance your need to see your dying father over your future of living under the table in the US.

I just don't understand why anyone would want to live as an illegal alien (who comes from a reasonably affluent place like the UK). Isn't it a daily stressor being worried about deportation? How do you make enough money to live?

Thumbs down Re: No passport...!

This thread reminds me of the one by "Powerlifter" a couple months ago. It's the one whose "friend" had overstayed his I-94 by a year or so, and thought he would exit via Canada, and no one would notice.

Total Bollocks!

Jim.

You really don't understand it?

Didn't you know that there are significant of illegal American, British and other workers in countries with *lower* GDP than their country of origin?

Your only option is marriage to a USC, basically. That can erase your overstay.

I'm not sure where you got the impression that I am not aware of that fact. That doesn't really explain the decision. I think what I said is quite self explanatory.

Isn't it obvious? People don't make their decisions on what the average level of income is in country a compared to country b. They make their decisions on the income they think *they* can get, or lifestyle, or friends/family/love, or fun, or without thinking about it at all.
