Was always part of Surrey since the first king was crowned there, hence "Royal" Borough of Kingsto(w)n Upon Thames. Was only included into the London Boroughs nonsense within the last century. prior to that for at least 10 centuries it was and still is in Surrey.
If you send a letter to a friend there would your envelope say:
Ray's Mate
Hazy Sunsets Rest Home
kingston
London
KT1 4DL
OR
Ray's Mate
Hazy Sunsets Rest Home
Kingston
SURREY
KT1 4DL
Even Surrey County Council have there offices in Kingston:
County Hall
Penrhyn Rd
Kingston upon Thames
Surrey
KT1 2DN

One of the things I've always wanted to do since I was a little kid was ride on one of London's red double-decker buses. The one visit I made to England in 2003 did not include this experience, mostly because Mark thought it was silly -- "It's just a bus!" he said.
Well, now I don't know when I'll have the chance, if ever.
The funny thing is, I'm not British but even *I* feel a little sad that these buses are being decommissioned. How do you Brits feel about it? Like Mark does, or like I do?

I am well pleased as they were not accessible to everyone and the UK is so far behind the US (and some others I guess)
