NJ schools: immunisation requirements
Hi,
I'm hoping someone can help me. We've just moved from the UK to NJ 6 days ago. We found a house to rent today and we're therefore looking at registering at my son's new school. We have his red book with all his immunisation records in but will we need to see a Dr here to get it all confirmed etc? The application forms seem really strict and like you have to get a medical done??!! It's strange to me as in the UK, some people choose not to have their kids immunised but here it's mandatory. Thanks in advance 😀 |
Re: NJ schools: immunisation requiremrn
Basically the same as the UK requirements, but with Hep. B and Chickenpox also.
Here is the list http://www.state.nj.us/health/forms/imm.pdf |

You can probably get the form from the school district web site.

Ok thanks. It seems such a faff to have to go to a Dr before you can enroll a child in school but hey ho!
I'll get more specifics from the school. Thanks again 😀 |

Re: NJ schools: immunisation requiremrn
Sadly, it is probably very easy to skip all the immunization shots, by saying you have a moral or religious objection. Wont say it at the top of th page, but probably will somewhere.
Edit: A quick Google says that NJ has tightened down on this practice, well done NJ. (Religious objection still possible, but well, this is the USA) |
Re: NJ schools: immunisation requiremrn
Based on my experience in AZ, I came all prepared for my kids' new Ohio schools, with copies of their immunizations as approved and validated by a USCIS Cilvil Surgeon, no less.
They've been in the schools nearly 2 weeks now, and so far no one seems to give two hoots about their vaccinated status, despite me preferring it several times. They DID insist the kids produced a negative TB result before even letting them register at the school district, mind you. Luckily we already had this from their GC medicals. |

It helps those newly hired doctors in NJ tide themselves over until they can move on to the $300k contracts that are being widely offered.
