New York Catterys

Hi everyone,

I am just about to move to New York and am considering taking my two cats with me. Does anyone know of any catterys in New York or any other kind of pet sitter as I will obviously want to travel in the US and come back to the UK

Many thanks

I presume you will be living in an apartment building ?

Most reputable buildings will have a choice of cat/apartment sitters and dog walkers who live in the building. The doorman will know who they are, as will anyone who has lived there with a pet for even a short time.

The term cattery alludes me. For a moment there thought you were talking about a one of the high priced houses of prostitution that Manhattan is becoming famous for. However, based on the rest of your question I would assume you mean a boarding kennel. I'm sure that NYC has many, as I know that the areas outside of NYC do. Personally, we use the services of a retired neighbor to visit and feed our four cats while we travel. You can probably find any number of people in the Manhattan area who will be happy to come to your home to clean the litter box daily, feed the cats their wet food or check the supply of dry food, freshen their water supply and just generally hang around for a bit to pet and socialize with them.

Not all apartments in Manhattan and damn few in the 'burbs have doormen. They all have superintendents and/or real agents who will be happy to answer questions such as this one.

I don't live in NY state but I have a coworker who pays for her dog to spend the day in "doggy daycare" as she calls it. It's a service provided by a vet's practice near the office where we work.

Maybe there's a vet not too far from where you live that provides a similar service?
