New Job in LA - Where to Live
hi all, first time poster after some advice if possible
I have a possible opportunity to relocate from the UK to the USA.
The job will be in El Segundo.
I am looking at possibly living in Manhattan beach or Rodondo Beach
I have 2 children and my wife so elementary and pre-schools and family friendly areas are most important
Can anyone offer any advice on the following:
Commuting times to El Segundo?
Living in Manhattan beach or Rodondo Beach? (pro's & con's)
Any other areas I should possibly look into living in?
Tips for English living abroad!
Many thanks for any help.
Cheers, Phil

Re: New Job in LA - Where to Live
I've just noticed that Google Maps not only gives the current traffic situation, but can also give typical traffic on a given day and time. Have a play with Google maps (I think you'll get a menu with that link: select "typical traffic"). Great Schools for school ratings, but bear in mind it might be a bit out of date. City-Data for reviews and forums about areas in general.
Have you discussed visa types?

Redondo and Manhattan Beaches are near El Segundo. It is a quite reasonable commute. All three are within what is called the "South Bay." I hope the job pays very well. Housing costs go up the nearer to the water you are.
BTW, people live in El Segundo.
[Historical note: "El Segundo" is Spanish for "The Second." The town was originally named for Chevron Oil's second refinery in California].
