New British comedy & documentaries?????

Having been away from the UK for 20 years I'm out of touch on good shows . I 've asked in the UK Nova thread but got little to no response.
I've been downloading some UK TV and started out well but some of the stuff has been shite.
Last night I downloaded Attention Scum which was complete crap with the Dennis Pennis guy jumping around shouting out silly quotes and trying to be too clever.
So what's good as far as comedy, documentaries and reality TV

Just to give you an idea of my taste I like Vicar of Dibley and Little Britain Christmas Specials, Skint, The Apprentice UK, Springwatch, Worst Christmas of my Life.

Any ideas?

Do you have BBC America?
I know a lot of it is crap but recently been watching No Angels drama but with funny bits. also like The Royle family and anything with Peter Kay.

I noticed Uknova has, Room 101 and reality shows 10 years younger and Wife Swap, they are always good for a laugh. The difference between the US and UK Wife Swap? the Americans always cry at the end the Brits end up scrapping!

Jam & Jerusalem is OK, started off well and then I kind of lost interest in it.

The Green Wing and Shameless are pretty good.

Dead Ringers was brilliant on the radio but never really transferred to TV well.

On my recent visit back home I caught an episode of "Planet Earth", a truly spectacular documentary narrated by - you guessed it - Saint David Attenborough. Here is a link to the book that accompanies the series:

It doesn't seem to have a specific agenda - just truly wonderful scenes of wildlife from across the globe.

The only UK comedy worth watching at present is Little Britain.
Not English, but have you watched My Name is Earl, LMFAO at Thursdays episode.
UKNova had some good episodes of Faking it a while back, good for a laugh, I think they still have a special one on there about Burlesque with Dita Von Teese, worth watching for her alone.

The Catherine Tate show is excellent - there's three series out there to catch up on.

"The dirty, robbing b*stards" :D (watch it and see...)

Have you tried Lead Balloon with Jack Dee? Another vote for Green Wing - anyone watch the special the other day?

Green Wing is rather good, but I missed the holiday special and couldn't be arsed to get it.

Robin Hood is supposed to be really good, but it's coming out, probably hacked to pieces on BBCA in March, though the series is either finishing or has finished in the UK already.

"The Sarah Jane Adventures" it was a one off and supposed to be really good, only had a quick peek and will watch it later.

The Gadget show is pretty good if you like toys.

If your into cooking, The Way We Cooked was kind of interesting...and there's Saturday Kitchen, with that James Martin bloke who did the spun sugar stuff in Ready Steady Cook.

Something I've not seen, and only just grabbed an episode to check out, but was told it was worth looking was Jam and Jerusalem, it's a comedy...

I'm pretty sure that the 'Planet Earth' documentary was on the Discovery channel a while ago..it was excellent!...same as one called 'Blue Planet',and I think I catch one or the other every so often on one of the science channels....those documentaries just fascinate me,they're so beautifully filmed and David Attenborough's narration always makes them SO interesting.......Sophia

Still Game is great! I've been down loading the UK version of Deal or No Deal, it's so much better than the US version, it has Noel Edmonds too. Lol ;)

Anyone fancying a nostagia trip should try and get hold of It Started With Swap Shop, to bring back memories of Saturday morning telly (unless you were a Tiswas fan of course). Some great clips from some old shows, and they even show the legendary clip from Going Live where a caller asked Five Star "Why Are You So F***ing Crap", unedited.
