National "Do Not Call" Register

Howdy Doody!

I have just renewed my membership of this fine register, and am now good until 2012!:D

No more annoying calls from Telemarketers. You can enter upto 3 numbers, for inclusion on the list. Remember, you do not have to enter your cell phone number as it is illegal for Telemarketers to call you via your Cell Phone.

Cheers!

Jim.

Regardless of the do not call list they can still call you on the basis of a "business relationship"

Charitable organizations can still call, too, even if you've never given them a penny.

About 6 months ago my company sent out an email saying it was now legal for tele marketers to call cell phones. We were all told to go and register our company phones at once.

I heard on NPR about a guy who's suing companies who don't take notice of the do not call register:

His website is here:

Not much point sticking to your principles here - just register the damned thing and be done with it. They can call your cell as long as they're not using an automated dialer - and I'm sure they're all just falling over themselves telling the FTC that they've never heard of the things.

Like they say, it don't cost nothin'.

And it also doesn't include pollsters and canversers for political organizations.

While you are at it, call 1-888-567-8688 (1-888-5optout) to stop prescreened offers from CC and insurance companies.
