My Life As An Undocumented Immigrant

I read that yesterday, very moving. Also interesting to note that he is openly gay as well. It's people like this that make the DREAM act so desperately needed.

Yeah, I read it expecting to get to the end and hear that he's just got married, so when that part popped up, I really feel bad for the guy. Hopefully something will change soon on that front.

So he's preempting being caught out by coming out.
It's a gamble, but he's high profile enough for this to work.
Obama's aunt was given asylum without explanation. I wonder if the courts would do a similar thing for this guy?

Even if it did, the guy has just admitted (among other things) to have made several false claims of US citizenship, which carries a lifetime ban.

I thought there had been some short periods of time since the writer has been here where an illegal person could get a green card legally, I'm pretty sure the guy down the street did, he's a Brit and got his card though some sort of grace period where he could become legal, that was before he married another neighbor who was a USC.
I think it's a terrible thing to bring kids here illegally, this becomes their only home, they are as American as the next kid and yet could easily be deported to a country they have no memories of and no relatives to go to and banned from coming back ever.

He has been sent back to the Philippines?
The last amnesty often called 245i, turned out be a complete failure. Not even the Dems have tried that again.
They would not be banned from ever coming back, and how often do people of the same age enter the US, but that does not seem an issue.

Christ, I'm turning into a bleeding heart, but this is his home. I read another story about a guy who was sent back to Viet Nam, having spent the majority of his life here. He doesn't speak Vietnamese, has no immediate family.
There needs to be some common sense applied. It's like that liberal zero-tolerance policy they have in schools. Moronic.

Re: My Life As An Undocumented Immigrant
If we just deport people like him back to wherever they came from, we are heartless bastards. If we say "ok, people who were brought here as minors can stay", then we just open the floodgates for other people to ship their kids here, even if you set a cut off date. "If they allowed it once, they will probably allow it again...."
I don't know what the answer is. Permit this guy to stay because he is educated and high profile? What about the others who aren't as well known?
And we wonder why Washington keeps doing nothing on this.....

He almost certainly won't be deported, as his is not a priority case. But there remains no legal way for him to adjust his status while remaining in the country.
