Default My $10 birthday present ...

..that I'm planning to buy for myself today. We'll be off down to the friendly neighborhood National Park Visitor Center later today, and I'll be buying my $10 lifetime pass.

Is this a 'significant' birthday? Don't mean at all to pry, but is the $10 lifetime pass available to anyone of any age?

Just wondering if it's like the brilliant free bus pass the husband qualified for in England . . . just a couple of years before we moved over here.

It's for the blue rinse and zimmerframe brigade, so don't get to excited

So it's not really a lifetime pass, more a "few years if they're lucky" pass.

Exactly; like those mufflers with a lifetime guarantee. Er, my lifetime, or the lifetime of the muffler?

Thanks everyone! We had the best day at the beach. The "Big Government" beach. Big brother owned the parking lot, the shuttle bus to the beach (driven by a civil servant) and the facilities at the beach, showers, toilets etc., all owned by the federal government. And people say this isn't a socialist country?

Maybe I'll stay here after all! Gotta get my ten bucks worth (in case of death the pass is not transferable. My wife already asked.)

I do love Carvel ice cream cakes. Another of my favourite things about America, expecially appreciated in the unbearably hot American summer . . . .

Forgot to say happy (now belated) birthday, Robin!
