Mushy Peas
Does anyone in the Charlotte NC area know where to buy Mushy Peas? They used to sell them at Harris Teeter/World Market but they seem to have discontinued them. Fish and Chips aren't the same without them:D

I have the very same problem...my hubby loves chips, fish and mushy peas. Even bought a deep fat fryer to I could make him 'proper' chips. For the last 18th mths I have not been able to buy them anywhere...same with Batchelors processed peas. I used to be able to purchase them from several local retailers but now there's none to be found. :(

Re: Mushy Peas
Try Jamie Oliver's recipe for mushy peas -- yummy!
This is a fantastic recipe that is so quick and so simple and uses our reliable friends the frozen peas, which work really well here. Great with fish, meat, or even as a vegetarian dish with a big dollop of butter on top. 2 tablespoons olive oil 1 bunch spring onions, chopped 1 handful fresh mint, leaves picked 1 pound (500 grams) frozen peas 2 large knobs butter Sea salt and freshly ground black pepper Heat the oil in a pan and add the chopped onions, mint, and peas. Cover and leave for a few minutes to steam. Mash with a potato masher. You can do this with a food processor as well, just pulse it until smooth. Whether mashing or pulsing, when it's done add the butter and season very carefully, to taste. :p |

Re: Mushy Peas
Well thank you everyone - I never expected such a lot of good replies about Mushy Peas (and yes Ray I am weird and Northern - but you're wrong mushy peas are delicious!).
I didn't realise the CCA British foods woman still shipped stuff - however, she is out of stock :( The South African place don't have any on their website - but I'll go and have a look anyway. Thanks again everyone! |
