Default To much government

I find it slightly ironic that the Brits got a bloody nose and shown the exit door from the US over the style of government they imposed. Americans make a great deal in this part about less government is better, but have come up with a system that has many more layers of government than the UK. In another thread there is comment on the bureaucracy here.

So here is an example of bureaucracy and government overkill, which came about as a result of a vote last year. In the May elections one of the matters up for election is a seat on the Tigard and Tualatin Aquatic District. This is an elected body of five people which overseas the swimming pools in the high schools in the cities of Tigard and Tualatin. Why do you need an elected body for that!!!!

So people who are buying out the government don't feel left out

It is amusing seeing what things are up for election in the locals, it's pretty much a bit of everything and does anyone know who and what those people stand for? Not a chance, it's go with who ever was already there, someone you personally know, or randomly tick a box

Because it would be undemocratic to just hire someone who actually knew what they were doing when you could elect five citizens to bugger it up instead ...
