Me too, before moving here the most expensive daily driver I ever bought was £900. In 2012 I bought a 2001 Mondeo that was a part ex (1 owner from new) and paid just £400 for it. It was still going strong last year when I sold it for emigrating....for £400!

Harvey
Like someone mentioned finding a house to rent from owner may mean fewer fees and deposits.
Will you be working in Seymour versus Columbus? I would try to live on the south side of either town
Further away from Indy and probably higher rents. Look online at the local small town newspapers and
Of course craigslist for rental houses. Some of those free local shopper news papers have a lot of
rental listings also. I would also contact a small town realtor, near your target zone and explain your
Situation working into the conversation that you may be buying in future and would use them as your agent.
Most would be very happy to talk with an Englishman and provide a lot of info about the area beyond just
housing.
