Moving to the US - Getting health insurance?

How does one go about it? It's hard to find any links what with all the news on the web about the health carte reform

Any decent companies?

Depends on what visa you are entering the US with. If you are coming on a work visa then healthcare should be offered by your company. If you are coming here to visit, then apply for travel healthcare insurance. If you are coming here as a student, then you should look into private healthcare (as you are doing). Look at companies such as Huma, BlueCross/BlueShield, Atena, Prudential, or do a google search for a comparison chart of definite insurance companies and what they have to offer.

BTW healthcare reform will not pertain to you in the slightest. Unless you are poor, have a green card, can't afford insurance on your own, etc. you will not qualify.

All you need for healthcare is money, money, money, good health, more money, complete an application, sell your soul to the medical profession for research and have money.

Your employer gives you a choice to take their insurance or decline it, you either take it or decline it. That's by far and away the best way of doing it. Also, if you're having problems finding links to insurance companies you must not be looking very hard, there are tens of thousands of health insurance companies all willing to take your money and then thousands of brokers. Just type "health insurance" into google and you'll get about a billion results.

I did a search of her username and came up on the fact that her father is a USC who lives in the UK but because he did not live in the US growing up to fullfil the requirements to pass on US Citizenship his kids are only Brits.

He is planning to relocate to the US and the poster (his 19 year old daughter) is hoping to come here along with her parents. So the entire family will not have healthcare since the father is a returning Yank and is not moving due to employment.

So their scenario is a bit different and they will probably be eligible for US sponsored healthcare unlike many US citizenship who have lived and worked in the US their entire lives.

Do I some bitter? Sorry that it shows.

In that case, they should get a job or become a student and get insurance through the employer or university.
