Default Moving to the US

My husband has already got a job waiting for him in the US, how does he go about the whole process of getting the right visa.

Without a visa a job offer is worthless ...
The employer usually arranges that ...

What type of a job is it ....

For types of visas ..see here:

To specifically answer your question, he does not, his Employer does. What have they said?

He is a qualified roofer but he also has all the necessary health and safety certificates and extra qualifications and certificates to prove this.
He has done numerous courses in all aspects of roofing and roofing safety, and has gained the relevant qualifications and certificates required to do the job.
He has sent copies of all these to his prospective employer and he said himself he is impressed by the qualifications that he holds, he has offered him a job but isn't himself sure where to start, any help would be appreciated.

OZ, NZ and Canada are nice. The US simply isn't going to happen through this job offer.

He certainly sounds well qualified... but there is nothing that your husband can do. The company who offered the job, must start the paperwork for his visa... by filing a Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor.

Unfortunately, "roofer" is *not* a qualified occupation for getting a visa. Sorry!

Now, all that said, if he were lucky enough to qualify for an H-1B visa, it could not be submitted prior to April 1, 2009 for work starting in October 2009. You, as his wife, would receive an H-4 visa and, while you could live with him in the US, you could not work... ever!

I've no idea how far you can actually push an EB3 -- but that's a theoretical possibility.

As others have said, you and your husband will not be moving to the US. Sorry.

Its all in the hands of the Employer, there might be a possibility, but we are looking at a long time.

So what does the Employer say?

Roofer just isn't going to cover it, if you excuse the pun. Why not try a country with a healthcare programme instead?
